For food lovers, our all-time favorite Mission Pizza is an absolute must. Their wood-fired pies are legendary, with inventive toppings and a perfectly crisp crust, but everything they make is amazing. The hip atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax after a day of exploring. This is 1.5 miles from Charcoal Cottage, all walkable through the downtown arts district!
Are you craving something a bit more Southern? Bossy Beulah’s is just down the hill from Charcoal Cottage (three blocks!) and serves up some of the best-fried chicken sandwiches in town. Its retro vibe and incredible comfort food make it a hit with locals and visitors alike. Bring your pup along and enjoy a meal in their outdoor seating area.
We recommend Penny Path Crepes in Reynolda Village for a breakfast or brunch treat. Their sweet and savory crepes are to die for, and it’s the perfect place to fuel up before a day of sightseeing. Reynolda Village is a beautiful spot to explore, with shops, gardens, and historical sites to discover.
For a truly local experience, head to East of Texas and Lesser Known Brewing for some Texas-style BBQ and craft beer. These two spots are side by side, so you can quickly grab a bite to eat and wash it down with a pint of local brew. Afterward, stop by Easy Talk for cocktails—the perfect way to round out a fun evening in Winston-Salem. Great outdoor seating with fire pits!
If you’re looking for something sweet, Bobby Boy Bake Shop is a bakery we can’t recommend enough. Their pastries, bread, and desserts are all carefully crafted, and everything is as delicious as it looks. They have fantastic coffee and are connected to The Caviste, our favorite wine market! It’s also across the street from the Stuart and Emma Thomas Memorial Trail, a great hiking path! The lines get long on Saturday morning, so go early!
The Cobblestone Farmers Market is a vibrant Saturday market with local produce, handmade goods, and artisanal foods. Breakfast here is to die for, and it’s walkable from our home! However, because of the food and produce, Cobblestone is not dog-friendly.
