Whether you’re a history buff, an art enthusiast, or a sports fan, Winston-Salem, NC has it all.

Start your cultural exploration with a visit to Reynolda Village, a historic estate that now houses shops, cafes, and galleries. Wander through the lush gardens or explore the Reynolda House Museum of American Art, which features an impressive collection of American masterpieces.

For a more modern take on the arts, check out the Downtown Arts District Association (DADA), where you’ll find galleries, studios, and street art. It’s a great place to pick up a unique souvenir or admire the creativity of Winston-Salem’s thriving arts community. The First Friday of every month is a gallery crawl past arts, restaurants, and bars, and it’s a total blast! This is 1 mile from Charcoal Cottage, all through walkable downtown Winston!

For a step back in time, don’t miss the chance to explore Old Salem, one of the most beautiful historic districts in the country. Old Salem is known for its well-preserved Moravian architecture, charming streets, and rich history dating back to the 18th century. It’s a wonderful place to explore year-round. Still, it’s especially magical during the holiday season, when the streets are adorned with festive decorations and the historic buildings are lit up, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.

Sports fans will want to catch a Winston-Salem Dash baseball game. It’s a fun and family-friendly way to spend an evening, and the lively atmosphere at Truist Stadium is infectious. Plus, the stadium is downtown, making grabbing dinner or drinks before or after the game easy. This is less than 1/2 a mile from our home! You can’t do better during the winter months than cheering on our local Carolina Thunderbirds minor league hockey team. Hockey in the South, you might be asking yourself? Just picture NASCAR fan energy, but add skates…

If you’re traveling with kids (or are a kid at heart), the Kaleideum is a fantastic museum that combines science, history, and fun. It’s a hands-on, interactive experience that will keep everyone entertained.

For natural beauty, take a day trip to Pilot Mountain, just outside Winston-Salem. This iconic peak offers stunning views and plenty of trails for hiking, picnicking, and the great outdoors. You can even take your furry friends along!

Finally, visit A/perture Cinema, an indie movie theater where you can catch the latest films in a cozy, intimate setting. It’s a perfect spot for a laid-back date night or a rainy afternoon.
